A more evolved concept of Strain Counterstrain which directly influences and assists changes in the Autonomic Nervous system. (ANS) The autonomic nervous system is the involuntary or unconscious division of the peripheral nervous system. It stimulates “all smooth muscles” of blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, organs, nerves and glands.
The ANS has two divisions:
Sympathetic – aka “fight or flight,” the survival instinct phase, meets all crises and spares no expense. Crises in body functions include; blood vessel integrity, elasticity, decreased blood oxygenation to all organs including the brain, increased hypertension, reduced endocrine, metabolic and brain functions. Therefore, any impact on the sympathetic system will usually reduce the healing potential of the body.
Parasympathetic – aka “rest or repose,”the resting and regeneration phase, regulates all body functions for long term survival, and cleans up after the sympathetic system, repairing and storing energy for a rainy day. When the parasympathetic system can no longer “keep up” all of life becomes a crisis. One may feel overloaded, emotionally erratic and little things escalate with less and less provocation.
For some form of health to be present, both divisions of the ANS must work in harmony as much as possible.
Both Parasympathetic and Sympathetic systems need to work in harmony with each other as much as possible.
BENEFITS OF ADVANCED STRAIN-COUNTERSTRAIN FOR THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM
The more homeostasis present in this complex ANS system, the better the health of an individual will be. If the ANS is out of sync, every fiber of our being is affected. At a cellular level, our body is always attempting to maintain homeostasis; when it can’t it will struggle.Trauma, physical injuries, and Inflammation for the most part may often cause this tissue to contract, to bind together resulting in extensive pressures on arteries, veins, nerves, internal organs and bone structures. This pressure, over time, can create pain which cannot be identified in standard testing procedures such as x-rays, cat scans, myelograms, MRIs et al.
