In 1989, Nina landed at Mueller College of Holistic Studies in San Diego, California after having been catapulted from a traumatic personal experience. In search of a way to address her trauma and pushed forward by a strong desire to find ways of healing, for herself and for others, she became committed to bodywork.
Her initial training taught her the importance of shifting reactions, developing new perspectives and re calibrating emotions in order to heal. Later, what she learned facilitated her understanding of sacred spaces for the continuation of her own healing and recovery, and for her clients who came in search of similar ways and with similar needs. That was just the beginning of her professional career.
Since then, Nina has become an Associate Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy® and concurrently is working on the following Certifications:
• Associate Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy® (Ortho-Bionomy International Society).
• Certification for CranioSacral Therapist CST-T (The Upledger Institute).
• Certification for Visceral Manipulation Technician (The Barral Institute).
Nina has found these modalities to be complementary to one another, providing a highly beneficial approach to assisting the body in a Safe, Gentle and Effective Manner— physically and emotionally.
Most recently, over the past 12 years, Nina has been working side by side with an Advanced Hands-On Medical Intuit and Advanced Osteopath Manual Therapist. Their work together provided her continued hands-on learning in greater depth with each new client she saw. During this time of mentorship, she has acquired strategies needed to employ a variety of osteopathic manual therapy modalities through her new found knowledge, understandings and training.
Nina is a life-long learner: The depth and breadth of how the various systems of the body work independently and in conjunction, how they influence one another and ultimately how it is best to release them, correct them or support them manually has become her life's work.
Located in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, AZ., her practice attracts clients with a variety of conditions, making her mission statement a real and focused one: "I came here to Sedona to help people feel good in their bodies." And that is exactly what she does!
Nina has found a special way to assist her clients' bodies in a thorough and efficient manner, to usher in the good feelings they wish to reclaim and maintain. She is goal-oriented, highly professional and her clients realize results from her hands-on work from the very first session.
Having come full-circle through her commitment to learning, Nina has become the antidote to pain, injury and life-long stress as an acutely sensitive practitioner who addresses all the ailments that derive from these conditions.
In the end, it is all about the touch of her hands—her hands make direct contact with her clients' bodies during manual therapy sessions. And, although her touch is as light as air, the ways of her hands show they possess great wisdom. Because of it, she is intuitive and highly skilled in reading the body and its systems in order to assist the kind of Change that Heals.
Taking her first Ortho-Bionomy® course just six months out of massage school she quickly grasped the concepts based in Osteopathic Manual Therapies and the effectiveness of this approach with her clients. Accumulating many tools over the years, Nina Joy officially began teaching in 2015. She has a passion for her work and for her students—to learn and expand awareness of themselves and their relationship to their work and clients.
