CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics.
Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams—about the weight of a nickel—practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it''s effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction

Therapists using Visceral Manipulation assess the dynamic functional actions as well as the somatic structures that perform individual activities. They also evaluate the quality of the somatic structures and their functions in relation to an overall harmonious pattern, with motion serving as the gauge for determining quality.
The visceral system relies on the interconnected synchronicity between the motions of all the organs and other structures of the body. At optimal health, this harmonious relationship remains stable despite the body's endless varieties of motion. But when one organ cannot move in harmony with its surrounding viscera due to abnormal tone, adhesions or displacement, it works against the body's other organs, as well as muscular, membranous, fascial and osseous structures. This disharmony creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body is forced to move around. In turn, that chronic irritation paves the way for disease and dysfunction throughout many systems of the body—musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urinary, respiratory and digestive to name a few.

Ortho-Bionomy®is an osteopathically-based form of bodywork therapy that was developed in 1976 by the British osteopath Dr. Arthur Pauls. This holistic and pain-free technique is very effective in working with chronic stress, injuries and pain associated with postural and structural imbalances.
An Ortho-Bionomy practitioner uses gentle movements and positions the body to change stress and pain patterns. A strong focus is placed on the comfort of the individual and no forceful manipulations are utilized.
This gentle system of bodywork is quite effective in helping to alleviate acute and chronic pain, as well as stress patterns by reducing muscle tension, soothing the joints, increasing flexibility, improving circulation and relaxing the entire body.
Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive, system of healing that reminds the body of its natural ability to restore balance. It is based on a simple and profound philosophy: allow the body to correct itself. The hallmark of Ortho-Bionomy is pain relief.

We have been privileged to see Integrated Energy Therapy live up to this vision.
“Neural”, refers to the nervous system of the body, which includes the Brain, Spinal Cord, Autonomic Nervous System and Peripheral Nerves. These delicate systems act as a communication highway throughout the body and when they are not operating properly, pain and loss of many functions can occur.
NTT & NM identifies nerve restrictions and fixation while examining their effects on the rest of the body. Proper nerve function, electrically, is essential to the body’s function.

The fascial system within the human body is made up of a three dimensional matrix of continuous connective tissue which surrounds every artery, vein, nerve, organ, muscle and bone in the body. It is a web of tough connective tissue surrounding, stabilizing and holding the body together. It is a continuous, spider web like matrix from head to toe.
Trauma, physical injuries, and Inflammation for the most part may often cause this tissue to contract, to bind together resulting in extensive pressures on arteries, veins, nerves, internal organs and bone structures. This pressure, over time, can create pain which cannot be identified in standard testing procedures such as x-rays, cat scans, myelograms, MRIs et al.

Within the domain of Manual Therapy, Strain-Counterstrain has its origins as a type of “passive positional release” created by Lawrence Jones, D.O. in the early 1960s. As a comprehensive approach for the treatment of somatic dysfunction and pain, it works on decreasing the hyperactivity of the myotatic reflex arc. This decreases muscle spasm and reestablishes muscle length, joint mobility and articular balance of joint surfaces.
Strain-Counterstrain was the basis of five other Osteopathic models that were developed afterwards also by D.O.s.
● Mechanical / Corrective Kinesiology Model. (S.Weiselfish-Giammatteo, PhD, PT, IMT, C)
● Synergistic Pattern Release Model. ( S.Weiselfish-Giammatteo, PhD, PT, IMT, C)
● Mechanical Link Model. ( P. Chauffour, DO )
● Behavioral Modification for Chronic Pain Model. (S.Weiselfish-Giammatteo, PhD, PT, IMT, C)
● Ortho-Bionomy® (A.L. Pauls, DO)

A more evolved concept of Strain Counterstrain which directly influences and assists changes in the Autonomic Nervous system. (ANS)
The autonomic nervous system is the involuntary or unconscious division of the peripheral nervous system. It stimulates “all smooth muscles” of blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, organs, nerves and glands.
The ANS has two divisions:
Sympathetic – aka “fight or flight,” the survival instinct phase, meets all crises and spares no expense. Crises in body functions include; blood vessel integrity, elasticity, decreased blood oxygenation to all organs including the brain, increased hypertension, reduced endocrine, metabolic and brain functions. Therefore, any impact on the sympathetic system will usually reduce the healing potential of the body.
Parasympathetic – aka “rest or repose,”the resting and regeneration phase, regulates all body functions for long term survival, and cleans up after the sympathetic system, repairing and storing energy for a rainy day. When the parasympathetic system can no longer “keep up” all of life becomes a crisis. One may feel overloaded, emotionally erratic and little things escalate with less and less provocation.
For some form of health to be present, both divisions of the ANS must work in harmony as much as possible.
Both Parasympathetic and Sympathetic systems need to work in harmony with each other as much as possible.

BENEFITS OF ADVANCED STRAIN-COUNTERSTRAIN FOR THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM
The more homeostasis present in this complex ANS system, the better the health of an individual will be. If the ANS is out of sync, every fiber of our being is affected. At a cellular level, our body is always attempting to maintain homeostasis; when it can’t it will struggle.Trauma, physical injuries, and Inflammation for the most part may often cause this tissue to contract, to bind together resulting in extensive pressures on arteries, veins, nerves, internal organs and bone structures. This pressure, over time, can create pain which cannot be identified in standard testing procedures such as x-rays, cat scans, myelograms, MRIs et al.

A technique developed by Bruno Chickly, MD, DO (1961) who stemmed and evolved his research from predecessors dating back to 1920.
The Lymphatic system is your immune system and your Immune system keeps you healthy. Proper function of the lymphatic system is the ability of the body to drain stagnant fluids, regenerate tissue, detoxify and filter out foreign substances from the interstitial spaces of the cells.

Neural Motility is the electrical synchronization and balancing of neural wave patterns between the brain, the brainstem and its connections to nerve plexuses, ganglions and organs in the body.
Neural motility for the brain, heart, spine and organs has been developed by myself and has combined the study, research and use of the many Osteopathic Manual Therapies, techniques and philosophies I've studied.

BENEFITS OF NEURAL MOTILITY FROM THE BRAINSTEM TO THE BODY
Every part of the body can be accessed through the brain and neurological conduction can be palpated with skilled hands. Therefore, Neural Motility helps to Synchronize and increase the electrical and neurological communication systems starting at the nucleus of the brainstem, tracked to the appropriate ganglion(s), then to the plexuses and following through the body to the specific correlating organ/area(s) of the body being addressed.
Increasing communication of neural/electrical impulses to organs in all areas of the body can increase function and promote well being.
